A complete plain-English guide to Yusimry (adalimumab-aqvh): what it treats, how to use it, dosage by condition, who should take it, and what to expect in 2026.

Yusimry (adalimumab-aqvh) is a biologic medication — specifically a biosimilar to Humira (adalimumab) — used to treat several serious autoimmune conditions. If your doctor has prescribed Yusimry or you're considering it, this guide covers everything you need to know in plain English: what it treats, how it works, how to take it, and what to expect.

What Is Yusimry?

Yusimry is a biosimilar to Humira (adalimumab), one of the best-selling biologic drugs in history. It was developed by Coherus BioSciences and received FDA approval on December 17, 2021, making it the seventh adalimumab biosimilar approved in the United States. It launched commercially in July 2023.

A biosimilar is a biological product that is highly similar to an already-approved reference product — in Yusimry's case, Humira — with no clinically meaningful differences in safety, purity, or potency. Biosimilars cannot be exact copies because biological molecules are complex proteins that can never be reproduced with 100% identity. But they go through rigorous FDA testing to confirm they work the same way.

What Conditions Does Yusimry Treat?

Yusimry is FDA-approved for the following conditions:

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) in adults — reduces signs and symptoms, inhibits joint damage progression, and improves physical function

Juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) in patients 2 years and older with polyarticular JIA

Psoriatic arthritis (PsA) in adults

Ankylosing spondylitis (AS) in adults

Crohn's disease in adults and pediatric patients 6 years and older (moderate-to-severe active)

Ulcerative colitis (UC) in adults (moderate-to-severe active)

Plaque psoriasis in adults (moderate-to-severe chronic)

Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) in adults and adolescents 12 years and older

Uveitis (non-infectious intermediate, posterior, and panuveitis) in adults and pediatric patients 2 years and older

Yusimry Dosage by Condition

Rheumatoid Arthritis: 40 mg every other week. Some patients not on methotrexate may benefit from 40 mg weekly or 80 mg every other week.

Plaque Psoriasis: Initial dose 80 mg, then 40 mg every other week starting 1 week after the first dose.

Crohn's Disease: Initial 160 mg on day 1, then 80 mg on day 15, then 40 mg every other week from day 29.

Ulcerative Colitis: Initial 160 mg on day 1, 80 mg on day 15, then 40 mg every other week from day 29.

Hidradenitis Suppurativa: 160 mg on day 1, 80 mg on day 15, then 40 mg weekly from day 29.

How Is Yusimry Given?

Yusimry is given by subcutaneous injection — a self-injection just under the skin, typically in the thigh or abdomen. It comes as a 40 mg/0.8 mL prefilled pen or prefilled glass syringe. The formula is citrate-free and latex-free.

Before your first injection, your doctor or nurse will show you how to self-inject properly. You may also self-inject once trained, or have a caregiver inject it for you. Let the syringe or pen warm to room temperature for 15 to 30 minutes before injecting. Rotate injection sites to avoid tissue reactions.

Key Things to Know Before Starting Yusimry

TB screening required: You must be screened for latent tuberculosis before starting. If positive, TB treatment must begin before Yusimry.

No live vaccines: You cannot receive live or live-attenuated vaccines (e.g., MMR, varicella, yellow fever) while on Yusimry. Non-live vaccines (flu shot, Shingrix, COVID, pneumonia) are generally fine.

Increased infection risk: Yusimry suppresses part of the immune system. Avoid close contact with people who are sick, and call your doctor at the first sign of fever or serious infection.

Store in the refrigerator: Keep Yusimry refrigerated at 36°F–46°F (2°C–8°C). Do not freeze. Keep in original carton and protect from light.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yusimry (adalimumab-aqvh) is FDA-approved to treat rheumatoid arthritis, juvenile idiopathic arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, plaque psoriasis, hidradenitis suppurativa, and uveitis. It is a biosimilar to Humira (adalimumab).

Yusimry is a biosimilar to Humira — highly similar with no clinically meaningful differences in safety, purity, or potency. They have the same active drug (adalimumab), same indications, and same mechanism of action. The key differences are manufacturer, price (Yusimry is substantially cheaper), and interchangeability status (Yusimry is not interchangeable, Humira is the reference product).

For most conditions (rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, ulcerative colitis maintenance), Yusimry is injected every other week. For hidradenitis suppurativa maintenance, it is injected weekly. Induction dosing for Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis uses higher doses more frequently at the start.

Yes. After proper training from your doctor or nurse, you can self-inject Yusimry at home using the prefilled pen or syringe. A caregiver can also inject it for you. Let the pen or syringe warm to room temperature for 15-30 minutes before injecting.

Some patients notice improvement within 2-4 weeks of starting Yusimry, particularly for joint pain and inflammation. For conditions like Crohn's disease or plaque psoriasis, it may take 8-12 weeks or longer to see full benefit. Your doctor will monitor your response and adjust treatment as needed.
