If Haloette is accidentally expelled (falls out), the action depends on how long it was out:

Out for less than 3 hours: Rinse with cool or lukewarm water (not hot) and reinsert as soon as possible. No backup contraception needed.

Out for more than 3 hours: Reinsert the ring, but use backup contraception (condoms or spermicide) for 7 days. Contact your provider if you had unprotected sex during the gap period.
