Airsupra is a prescription metered-dose inhaler that combines two active ingredients — albuterol sulfate (a short-acting beta2-agonist, or SABA) and budesonide (an inhaled corticosteroid, or ICS) — in a single rescue inhaler. It is approved for adults 18 and older for as-needed treatment or prevention of bronchoconstriction in asthma and to reduce the risk of asthma exacerbations.
Airsupra is the first FDA-approved rescue inhaler to include an anti-inflammatory corticosteroid alongside a fast-acting bronchodilator. This means patients get immediate symptom relief and inflammation control in every rescue puff, rather than needing separate maintenance and rescue inhalers.
Metered-dose inhaler (MDI) — inhaler
90 mcg albuterol / 80 mcg budesonide per actuation, 120 inhalations per canister (10.7g)

Albuterol (ProAir, Ventolin, Proventil):
Traditional SABA rescue inhaler. Widely available as a generic and much less expensive, but does not include an anti-inflammatory component.
Levalbuterol (Xopenex):
A purified form of albuterol that may cause fewer side effects like jitteriness and rapid heartbeat. Available as nebulizer solution and MDI.
Symbicort (Budesonide/Formoterol):
An ICS/LABA combination maintenance inhaler that can also be used as a reliever (MART approach). Contains budesonide like Airsupra but paired with a long-acting beta-agonist.
Breyna (Budesonide/Formoterol generic):
A more affordable generic alternative to Symbicort for maintenance and reliever therapy.

Beta-blockers:
moderateMay block the bronchodilating effect of albuterol and can cause severe bronchospasm in asthma patients. Avoid concurrent use when possible.
Strong CYP3A4 inhibitors
moderate(ketoconazole, ritonavir, itraconazole, clarithromycin): Can significantly increase budesonide levels in the body, raising the risk of corticosteroid side effects.
MAO inhibitors and tricyclic antidepressants:
moderateMay amplify cardiovascular effects of albuterol (increased heart rate and blood pressure).
Non-potassium-sparing diuretics:
moderateMay worsen low potassium levels when combined with albuterol.
Digoxin:
moderateLow potassium caused by beta-agonists may increase the risk of digoxin toxicity.
QTc-prolonging drugs:
moderateCombined use with albuterol may further increase the risk of abnormal heart rhythms.
